No matter how indifferent we may pretend to be to our physical nature, we must face the fact that for this temporal existence at least our lofty spirit is apparently linked to our "mind" whichin turn finds its expression and direction thru our brain, a decidedly physical organ which is precariously dependent on a steady flow of nourishing and cleansing blood. In time's great epic, only a few generations have passed since man possessed only a small portion of the brain he has today, when he was forced to live by his strength and prowess alone. Far future generations may see human kind as nearly isolated brain alone with only minimum physical structures to support an omniscient mind. But for the present we must recognize that though we may be just a little less than angels we are also just a little more than beasts. Those who ignore proper eating and exercise, overly pampering their bodies thus depriving themselves of the natural physical resistances essential for full body health, under the belief they exist above and beyond the physical, all too often find themselves the victims of myriad ills, which besides limiting the satisfaction they might otherwise realize from their part-animal desires, also find their mental processes impaired and hence spiritual development thereby stifled. Let us recognize the animal that is in us--rather than to "rise above it" let's make the most of it!
